Lisa @ School Family writes:
Have you sat down with the teacher and gone over the assessment so you can understand her reasons for wanting to get him this extra help? Sometimes kids are reading but when teachers do assessments, they learn that at child is having trouble with something like de-coding, a skill that they will need to take them to the next level of reading. Kids usually benefit from the one-on-one attention that these recovery programs provide, even if they are on the cusp of needing help.
