Love it Stacy! Mamajohnson- It may just be developmental. Has his teacher expressed any concerns? There are activities you can do so your son can "get practice" staying focused. Games are a great way to build attention spans. Also here is an article that talks about memory skills and attention span: http://www.schoolfamily.com/school-family-articles/article/4301-improve-memory-skills-to-build-attention-span

The only thing that has help my 5 yr. old focus on a task is to make up a simple song that goes along with the task. An example would be when picking up toys, we sing, Do you know what time it is, what time it is, what time it is? Do you know what time it is? It's time to clean up toys!" Or when I'm in a hurry to get out the door in the morning I start chanting, "1, 2, 3, 4 everybody out the door! 5, 6, 7, 8 we don't want to be late!" Both my 5 yr. old and 2 yr. old start repeating as they march right out the door.
