For the last week my 8 year old (2nd) grader does not want to sleep upstairs and she won't fall asleep until late and then wakes up and sleeps on the couch. Is this normal?

Have you talked with your daughter about why she doesn't want to sleep upstairs? It's not uncommon for kids to go through phases of having fears. If it's fear based you can help her by identifying the fear and talking it through. Maybe changing her bedtime routine would help too- Does she watch tv before bed? They say eliminating screen time for an hour before bedtime helps. Guide imagery tapes for kids are also great.
