Hi Terry- sounds like she just needs to get over the organization hump? One of our bloggers, Connie McCarthy, recently wrote an blog about helping kids be good writers. In that blog she links to several tools we have on our site that I bet your daughter will find helpful. Some other things that I have found helpful with my kids are to first do a verbal brain storm with them before they start writing. When they were in younger grades like your daughter I would record their words as they brainstormed out loud. Then we would look at their ideas and I would ask them which ideas they thought would map into the teacher's assignment. This often helped them to get unstuck. The other thing I did to help them get on their way is to give them colored high lighters and suggest that they break out the various parts of the assignment and color-code them by subject or topic. This helps a visual thinker to get organized. The last suggestion is that if your child is worked up about an assignment, encourage them to walk away for a while and do something like take a walk, or play with a pet to decompress. Hope this helps!

3.Ask the teacher for help or some good ideas for the book report and maybe that can help i mean i am just an ordinary ten year old that loves school but maybe my answer can help....oh, and maybe for the next book report she should pick a book that she knows very well and her teacher agrees with.

I am a freshman in high school, from my experience doing book reports in my years, Ask her to reread the book by herself and then write a summary about that book that she read and then take some of that information and begin writing the report. I asked for an extension to finish my book report, maybe she should too.
