My Child Won't Do Homework. Help.Posted by: Tim Sullivan on Dec 31, 2008 in Homework |
Feel like I've been reading Barbara Meltz's advice in the Boston Globe forever. Always balanced and rational. Here, she tackles a common lament: what to do when your child (in this case a 13-year-old) just won't take care of his homework responsibilities.

My child just lies about what homework is assigned, usually when it's something he doesn't want to do, assignments that are drawn out over a week or 2. Day to day math and that type he'll do no problem. The kids have agendas but the teacher thinks they should be responsible for filling them out.
I check it every night and when it's blank all I can do is assume that there is none.
The teacher told me when I get home at 5:30pm the janitor is still at the school so I can come in and check the board then.

Like i said before, if neither of those work, simply send them to a private school without their phones.Posted by - Blizzard on Feb. 10, 2009
Well, i would suggest you take away the phone, watch him/her do their homework, and when they finish let them fool around with the phone for 5-20 minutes. But if your child doesnt focus on his homework then take away his/her phone, ground him/her.
