I did check the box gifted and talented box, because my little guy seems that way to me . I base my belief on his academic performance in school and my observations of him on a day to day basis , but I don't know that he's anything other than a very bright boy , so perhaps there should be a "very bright kid category on the questioner". What really qualifies as gifted and talented ?

My 4th grader was in an Academically Challenged and Gifted pullout program that our school district offered. With budget cuts in California this was a program that was cut! He gets bored in his regular class and knows things come easy to him so he may not try as hard as he would if he was more challenged! He doesn't seem to want to do any work at home that is extra, does anyone have any ideas of how I can keep him interested in learning extra things? Thanks!
