Your son is probably a voracious reader because you love to read to him!
Where the Red Fern grows is one of my all time favs. Thanks so much for sharing your book ideas with the group.
I have a 9 year-old son who is a voracious reader, but I still like to read to him in the evening so I choose chapter books that I grew up with. We have read The Cay, Where the Red Fern Grows, My Side of the Mountain, and The Westing Game. I am looking forward to sharing A Wrinkle in Time with him, too! And a couple of years ago we went through ALL of the Beverly Cleary (Beezus & Ramona/Henry & Ribsy) books. For more recent titles I know the kids are loving the 39 Clues series, as well as the Percy Jackson series. Good luck!
As a young reader I enjoyed reading Little House books, it started a long lived interest in historical books. My daughter really enjoys reading the American Girl books, she really enjoyed knowing I read these same books as a kid. It is a pleasure to watch her get lost on an adventure and instill the importance of treasuring things from the past. I can't wait for her to be ready to read books like Nancy Drew, Ronald Dahl books, and other wonderful books!
