Preheat oven to 350 F.
Layer bread slices in a baking dish. overlapping the pieces.
Mix eggs, cream, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and pour over the bread. Put in fridge for 1 hour or overnight.
For topping, combine the butter, brown sugar, pecans, syrup, and cinnamon. Just before baking, sprinkle topping over bread and mixture.
Bake for 30 minutes, until bubbly.
