Tell him you think science is fun, and set out to prove it. Try any of the following, according to your child’s interest:
Rent a movie about space flight, such as Apollo 13.
Visit a nearby planetarium, museum, or zoo.
Let your child plan your family’s menu for the week. Ask him to consult a book about nutrition to help him come up with balanced meals.
Ask your child to find five things your family can do to take care of the environment. Put him in charge of the effort.
Have your child start a garden in containers. When the weather warms up, move it outdoors.
Scan the television listings for programs about medicine, nature, or technology.
