You may not be able to demonstrate and provide feedback—but you can help your student learn to manage his homework:
• Check daily that she knows what is required and has the supplies she needs.
• See if he is knows what skills he needs to practice in order to master a task. For a math problem, it might be “factoring,” for example. Preparing for an essay test might require practicing writing essay answers.
• Spend a few minutes each day reviewing how your child is going to manage homework time. How many assignments are there? Which will she do first? When will she take breaks?
• At the end of the evening, go over your child’s homework with him. Let him show you how he did it.
