And they can be especially effective if you break away from the black and white format.
Make your flashy flash cards from different colored pieces of paper. Mix up the shapes, too—there is no reason all those cards need to be neat little rectangles!
Use a black marker to print the question side of each card, but get creative on the answer side. Use different colored markers or pencils. Make letters and numbers flashy, too. Make numbers and letters fat, thin, squished or angular. You can even make numbers that look like different objects.
Better yet—have your students make their own flashy flash cards. They’ll have a great time and get extra review in the process!
