Now you can help him make clay, too! Here’s how.

  1. Let your child help measure and mix these ingredients: 2 cups flour, ½ cup salt, and 4 tablespoons cream of tartar.

  2. Then add 2 cups water, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, and 4 teaspoons food coloring.

  3. Have an adult heat all the ingredients over medium heat for three to five minutes. It’s done when they form a big ball that’s hard to stir.

  4. Sprinkle flour on a cutting board. Set the dough on it to cool.

  5. Knead the dough until it’s smooth.

  6. Now the clay is ready to use! Make sculptures or press it onto newspaper. Peel it off and you have a copy of the newsprint. Stretch the dough to make the copy look funny.
