One problem with TV is that it is a passive activity. It’s too easy to just stare at it without thinking about what is on the screen. Asking your child questions about the show can help avoid this. It can also help your child sort out what is “real” on television, and what is “pretend.”
Ask things like “Can animals really talk?” This can lead to a great conversation with your child.
Pay attention to “real-life” topics on TV. If you think your child is getting scared, worried or confused, turn off the set. Then talk about it right away.
