Here are questions you might ask a child who seems to be stumped:
Do you understand what you’re supposed to do? Have your child read the directions for the assignment and tell you what the assignment is about.
What do you need to do to finish the assignment? Help your child break assignments into small, manageable parts.
Have you ever done any problems like the ones you’re doing now? Sometimes kids forget they have solved similar problems.
Do you have everything you need to do this assignment? Help your child develop the habit of assembling everything needed for homework.
Does your answer make sense? Sometimes, the answer to a math problem doesn’t seem logical (32 divided by 8 can’t be 40). Have your child check over the problem.
