To help your child get back into the homework habit, get him a homework planner. You can buy a planner or make one. All that’s needed is to have the date and times marked for every half-hour.
First have your child record all extracurricular activities that will influence the schedule. Then make sure there’s enough time left for homework.
How much time should that be? The National PTA and the National Education Association recommend 20 minutes a day for children in kindergarten through 3rd grade, and 20 to 40 minutes a day for children in 4th through 6th grades.
Use the form to plan together, and your child will get the message: Learning at home is a top priority.
