They know tests are important. They want their parents to be proud of them. As a result, some kids become so anxious they can’t sleep, have trouble eating, or get a headache.

Here are some things you can tell your child to help soothe her nerves:

  • Let him know that everyone has to cope with tests. People take tests throughout their lives.

  • But good test scores are not everything. Be sure your child knows that teacher’s comments and daily grades are important.

  • Help him understand that one test score, good or bad, is just one test score. If most of his tests show he understands a subject, one low grade won’t hurt.

  • Encourage her to do her best. But reassure her that no matter what her test grades, your love for her will never fail.
