Children are more motivated to write when they see writing as a way to express themselves. This includes an expression of caring for others. Writing thank-you notes together can make writing more tempting for everyone in the family...and more fun, too.
A holidays is a good time to get started. After dinner or on a Saturday, announce that everyone is going to sit down at the kitchen table and write notes of thanks to those who made your holidays better.
Gather around the table throughout the year, sending quick notes of thanks to teachers, relatives and friends. Your child will learn that writing, togetherness, gratitude and happiness go together.
