A school work survival kit will make your child’s job of studying and learning a lot easier. And creating the kit together can be fun.

Sit down with your child and brainstorm what to put in the kit—information and material that are important to her. This might be emergency phone numbers or a special calendar.

A typical kit might fit into a backpack and include:

• A plastic pouch for keeping pens, pencils, markers, erasers, scissors and other school supplies.

• A folder with front and back pockets for storing important papers.

• Emergency phone numbers, such as your work, neighbor.

• Extra paper for notes and drawings.
