To make Hot Chocolate in a Jar, have your child:
-
Collect small baby-food-size jars.
-
Fill each jar with enough hot cocoa mix to make a one-cup serving.
-
Fill the jars with small marshmallows. Estimate how many will fit. Count them. How close was your child’s estimate?
-
Cut fabric scraps into circles that will cover the lids and drape one inch around.
-
Measure an 18-inch length of ribbon or yarn.
-
Center a fabric circle on each lid. Tie the ribbon around the edge.
-
Glue a chocolate kiss on top of each lid.
-
Glue a candy cane to the side.
-
Write a small note with directions like, “Here’s a gift to warm you up on a cold day. Just pour into a mug. Fill with hot water, and drop in the kiss. Stir with the candy cane, and enjoy!”
