Your child does her homework. But she rushes through math. She skims her history, and she scrawls her book report.
A Gold Star Rewards chart can help children improve the quality of their work. Start by talking about what you expect. What would your child need to do to earn a Gold Star?
Write those things down on a chart. Next to the list, write out some privileges your child could earn. How many gold stars would it take to earn them?
Of course, kids sometimes make partial progress. They do their math but still rush through the history. Try to outline what it would take to earn a Silver or a Bronze Star. (Remember, your child is still making progress.)
Each day, rate your child by awarding a gold, silver or bronze star. Over time, your child will learn what it takes to do her best.
