Afternoon Plan Ends Morning Catastrophes

Organization can make mornings easier.

Does your child always run around in the morning trying to find school books, book bag, or a special letter that needs to be signed? Designate only one area for your child’s books. As soon as kids walk in the door, have them go immediately to that special place to unload.

It can be a square made out of brightly colored tape on a bookshelf. Or, have your child decorate a box that is placed near the front door or in the bedroom.

After homework is finished, it goes back in the box. If you give your child lunch money, that goes in the box, too. With this routine, trying to find that book or special paper doesn’t become such a morning catastrophe.
