Research shows that bullying can affect learning. If you suspect your child is being bullied, contact the school right away. Talk with your child’s teacher. Has she noticed anything that might be a sign your child is being bullied? How is your child getting along with other children in the class?

Ask the teacher to tell you what she has observed in the classroom. Does your child lack social skills? Does he talk too much? Is he impulsive? These behaviors may make your child a target for a bully. Ask the teacher to suggest ways you can help your child work on these behaviors at home. Set a date when you will talk again.
