Here’s how you can help fill these gap hours. Connect your teen with:
- An after-school homework club or tutoring program. Your teen can get help in challenging subjects and make new friends.
- A community service organization. Teens want and need to feel connected. During the gap hours, they can tutor younger children or work in a nursing home. Together, you can find many ways your teen can give back.
- A recreation center. Even if your teen doesn’t play school sports, he can still be on a team. Check with your city to see about youth leagues. Also check with the Boys and Girls Club or the YMCA or YWCA.
- Other learning opportunities such as drama or computer classes that may pique your teen’s interest.
