Share these tips with your teen on how students can do their best in math:

  • Ask questions. Most teens are hesitant to ask a question in class. Remind your teen that if one person has a question, there are probably others who are wondering the same thing.

  • Don’t fall behind. Math builds on what was taught before. If your teen slacks off in January, there will be big trouble in February. Remind your teen to do homework every day.

  • Get a study buddy. Encourage your teen to find a math study partner. together they can figure out the problems. It can even make studying math more fun.

  • Read ahead. If the teacher is going to talk about chapter four tomorrow, have your teen read it tonight. Then have him try to solve some problems in the textbook. He may realize what he doesn’t understand. This will help him pay close attention in class the next day.
