But that doesn’t mean we all can’t use the same thinking skills that helped people like Aristotle and daVinci come up with their greatest
discoveries.
Here are some tips:
• Visualize. When Einstein was solving a problem, he used pictures and diagrams more than words. This helped him see a problem in a new way.
• Combine ideas in new ways. Austrian monk Gregor Mendel combined mathematics and biology to create a new science. Today’s study of genetics is the result of his creative combination.
• Find connections. An idea that works in one place may work in another. When Samuel Morse was inventing the telegraph, he came up with the idea of using relay stations for the signals after he observed relay stations for horses.
