Why do teens cheat? There are lots of reasons. Teens feel pressure to get good grades and get into a good college. But teens also cheat because they can. With more than 100 Internet sites that offer essays and papers on everything from atomic power to world religions, cheating is easier then ever.

Talk with your teen about your values. Discuss integrity and the importance of telling the truth.

Let your teen know that there is no difference between taking someone’s words on the Internet without giving credit and taking something from a store without paying for it. Stealing is stealing, and it’s always wrong.

If your teen does cheat and gets caught, don’t try to bail her out. Support the school’s efforts to get rid of cheating.
