But teach her never to take information from the Internet and pass it off as her own work.

Make sure your child knows the following:

• It is never OK to download a paper from the Internet and turn it in.

• It is never OK to cut and paste someone else’s work into her work. This is the same thing as copying from your neighbor’s paper.

• She can rephrase ideas she finds on the Internet in her own words. She should then list the author of the idea and the Web address where she found it.
