It can also mean the difference between a decent school project and one that truly shines.
Here are some ways to sharpen your child’s planning skills:
• Put him in charge of a fun family project, such as planning a trip. He should include plans for lodging, meals and activities, all while staying within a budget.
• Encourage your child to take on a household project that requires a series of steps. One idea is to prepare, plant and care for a garden.
• Give your child a list of your weekly errands and ask him to plan a route for you that will allow you to do your errands in the shortest amount of time.
• If a plan doesn’t work out, talk with your child about what went wrong and how he might correct it next time.
