So it’s important to encourage good study habits that will help her keep up. Here are some things you can do:
1. Help your child get organized. Together, plan how she’ll finish assignments. For example, if she has a report due in a few weeks, she’ll need to:
• Pick a topic.
• Research the topic.
• Decide which aspects of the topic to cover.
• Make an outline.
• Write a rough draft.
• Write a final draft.
With all assignments, talk about how and when each step will be completed.
2. Give practice tests. For example, write down sample test questions and have your child answer them. If possible, have her correct the test.
3. Discuss how to take tests. Explain the importance of reading questions carefully and keeping track of time. For example, she should avoid spending too long on any one question.
