Here are some ways to help your child get organized:
• A planner or calendar to track assignments, activities, project due dates and test dates.
• Different colored binders or folders (one for each subject) to store papers and materials.
• A well-supplied desk or storage box. Middle schoolers waste time trying to find needed supplies. Avoid this by keeping supplies in one place. Have your child tell you when he needs more of something.
• A timer. Have your child determine how much time he plans to study before he takes a break. Then have him set the timer and work until it rings. Try this for phone and computer time, too.
