Give yourself five points for something you do often, zero points for something you never do—or any score in between.

___1. I encourage my child to keep a summer reading list and visit the library often.

___2. I spend time outdoors with my child.

___3. I look for fun, educational events we can go to together.

___4. I know where my child is when I am not with him.

___5. I encourage my child to keep school skills sharp by writing letters, helping to plan outings and limiting TV.

How did you score?

Twenty points or more means you and your child are ready for a safe, learning-filled summer. Fifteen to 19 is average. Below 15 means you need to give more thought to a safe, productive summer for you and your child.
