So limit her to just a few things and urge her to commit to them.
Encourage your child to fulfill commitments by:
- Using a schedule. Say your child has a quiz Monday and was planning to study Saturday morning. But the schedule shows she promised Saturday morning to the soccer team. To fulfill both, she will have to study Saturday afternoon or Sunday.
- Fostering team spirit. If your child is part of a group such as a team or the drama club, the others depend on her to give her best effort.
- Making time. If your child plays piano or does something else on her own, have a regular practice time.
- Having her finish what she starts. Once your child begins a group activity encourage her to stay with it until the season is over.
