Scale back on screen time

2 of 8

If you let them, your kids would spend the whole day playing video games. So before that pattern is set, lay some ground rules for how many hours they're allowed to be in front of the TV or computer. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends limiting screen time to 2 hours per day, max; kids who exceed that recommendation are three to four times as likely to be overweight than those who minimize screen time, even if they get exercise.
