Children lose as much as two months of reading and math skills during summer, according to the National Summer Learning Association. To help avoid that, make sure your kids see you learning alongside them. Talk about current events. Ask your child to add up coupon savings during grocery trips, or to read the newspaper aloud while you do something else. Take a trip to a local museum, historical site, aquarium, zoo, or public garden.
