Question: Informing Parents about tests-4th grade

Hi, My child's 4th grade teacher is new to our school this year. In 4th grade they use student planners to teach responsiblity and to help parents stay informed on homework and testing. Our teacher only gives parents one day notice before a test. Is this normal for 4th grade? As a parent I would like the opportunity to help my child study when it fits into our family schedule. My 7th grader attends the same school. MS teachers post the entire weeks schedule down to testing, homework etc. on every Friday. The 4th grade teacher said she is giving ample time with one days notice.
