"Don't Whine, Get Involved"

Short and sweet -- and right on the money! CNN's Roland Martin makes an impassioned plea here for parent involvement. Love it. As he says:
"Show up on the first day and do not make it your last. There is no greater gift you can provide your children."

Couldn't have said it better myself. Great message for back-to-school.

Getting Involved is easier to say than do sometimes. Especially because at times it is unwanted. I have been called controlling, absent and a helicopter parent. I am a single dad who has little experience and really have leaned on Parenting Websites for help. I love this one and Dictionary For Dads the most. School and Family and Dictionary For Dads together have been an ongoing support for me. Thank You.. I struggle at being controlling and it is often due to anxiety and fear that I will make the wrong decisions as a parent. I have learned to accept my role as a parent need not be perfect only safe and consistent.
