I think this will something that I will try because the more tv that a child watches sometimes they feel like if they do not have to do chores, homework and other things that will help them in the world. Also less tv and more reading.

I have decided to completely eleviate television from my home. I recently saw my grandson progress report and was sadden because his Algebra I scores had drop tremendously. He has always received exceptional grades in math, science, and history. I was so disappointed in him. Because he let himself down. So, I am starting a booth camp this summer. No TV, No WII, No Playstation, No Taewonkdo, and No Facebook. I am helping get a better start for the next four years of high school.

I have two boys in middle school. They are only allowed to watch 1 hour of tv on school nights and it has to be something that we approve of. Usually the history channel. Which is one of their favorites.

I get to watch TV whenever I want as long as my homework done and am ready for the next day of school.

I think this is a wonderful idea!!! My toddler was in preschool and now summer camp. He loves cartoons which I would let him watch after he finished his homework. Sad to admit but while I cook dinner, do laundry or other domestic tasks I let the television "babysit" him. I think I will challenge myself to shut the T.V. off and have him help me separate the laundry, read to me in the kitchen while I cook or color when I'm cleaning. Nowadays, this stuff they show is it too much for children; even Nickelodeon has some mature subject matter for his age group. Commercials during the early evening when many children are still awake are over the top and explicit as well. Maybe children shouldn't watch television at all, just preapproved movies!!! I know... that's overboard but seriously our standards have been lowered for what is acceptable programming. As for the First Family, their parents may want to limit brain-rotting garbage but the other side maybe to shield them from the criticism and scrutiny aired......

My question is this: Did the Obamas start this rule after they moved to the White House, or has it always been their rule? Being that the Obamas did not enroll their own children in the public school system shows the American public that the Obamas do not believe the public system is good enough for their children. What does that say about the public school system for the rest of the children in America that must attend the public system? There is always another standard for those with money or position. The Obamas say one thing and do another just as many others do in public office. It does not mean we have to follow what the Obamas think and do. Just being in the White House does not make everything they say and do correct. Make your own choices!

Like I would want my child to be raised by their standards.. He alone is bringing our country down. My child watches some monitored tv and is a well rounded good child/student. People get real.

I think kids should be able to watch tv on school nights but not all night, I require them to go outside at leaast 30 mins a day or longer!! I like going out with them! :-) :-) :-)

I have noticed that there are some children who learn a great deal from watching tv.Others would sit and watch the idiot box as long as they want to. We need to strike a happy balance .Maybe we need not deprive them of watching tv but we should set bounderies for watching.Which days should they watch? What programmes should they watch?How long should they watch?Children like structure in their lives,believe it or not.

I'm a grandparent now. I allowed my children to watch tv - they were on the honr roll. My grands also watch tv and are on the honor roll. I am so sorry that America has blindly chosen to follow the Obamas in their parenting - not aware of the intentions of the first family... Please, raise your family as you feel you should and not the gov't. The gov't is already invading the schools will ill intentions.... Indoctrination of our young is a real and current event. It happens with socialist "new world order" that is attemptng to do away with our Constitution now.
