  • 16 ounce package penne pasta
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 2 cups whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 14 1/2 ounce can diced Italian tomatoes
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 F.

    2. Cook pasta according to directions, then drain, rinse in cold water, and set aside.
    3. In a large skillet, cook sausage, ground beef, and onion. Remove from heat, drain, and set mixture aside.
    4. Using same skillet on medium heat, add wine, stirring to loosen browned bits, and bring to a boil. Add the whipping cream, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring often, for 15 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat; cover and set aside.
    5. Combine meat mixture, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and pasta. Place in a lightly greased 13 x 9 inch baking dish.
    6. Bake covered for 20 minutes. Uncover and pour cream mixture evenly over pasta, then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
    7. Bake, uncovered, for 10 more minutes.
    8. Turn on broiler, and broil (approximately 5 1/2 inches from heat) for 2-3 minutes or until cheese is lightly browned. Serve.
