For my five year old we read a lot of signs as we drive. She gets the mail and gives it to whomever it is for (reading the names on the envelopes). I think real life stuff is good to do. Simple addition questions when figuring out how many eggs to cook. Stuff like that.
Normally, I am not a big fan of my 6-year-old in front of a screen, but she's really into the Petz video games that are out on the Wii. The added bonus is that the kids have to read the dialogues between the pets, in order to know what the next mission is. This has boosted her interest in reading tremendously!
Hi Anisha-
How about Cranium Hullabaloo (great game for the active learner), Apples to Apples, Jr, and I Spy in Common for language and reading skills. For Math, any game that involves counting is good for those ages. Sum Swamp and Yahtzee are also fun games the build math skills. Anyone else have some favs they want to add? ~ Lisa
