Research shows we’re more likely to make such changes if we tell another person about them.
So team up with your teen. Each of you brainstorm two or three resolutions. Maybe your teen wants to improve his grade in math or get his things ready the night before school. Maybe you want to spend 30 minutes of quality time with your teen each night or volunteer at school.
Share your resolutions and ask each other: What is one thing I could do this year that would make our relationship better? Then add each other’s suggestion to your lists.
Talk about how you can help each other meet your new goals.
