Here are some ways to keep reading and enjoy the best of what your hometown has to offer this summer.

Visit the library. If you take your kids to the library, books can take them everywhere else. Ask about activities your library may have in store for this summer.

Read your newspaper. In many communities, summer is filled with free activities. Look for free outdoor concerts, plays and festivals.

Contact your local tourist office. Your local Chamber of Commerce may have printed information about things to do in your community. Ask them to send you a copy. Use this information to plan a vacation in your home town.

Read books that relate to other activities. If you have a museum in your town, see if any exhibits are planned for summer. Then find books that tie in to the exhibits.
