Middle schoolers are notorious for being disorganized. But they’re not a lost cause. Here are some organization tips you can give your child:
- Choose places to put specific belongings—especially those that get misplaced frequently. For example, schoolbooks and other materials for school the next day might be kept in a box by the front door.
- Always put things away in their designated spot. Parents can set an example by doing this with other household items—a place for keys, mail, cleaning supplies, etc.
- Plan ahead before starting a big project. Decide how the task will be completed step-by-step. Then stick to the plan.
- Make areas where you spend a lot of time attractive and convenient. For example, put a pretty calendar on a desk. Or keep favorite clothes in an easy-to-reach spot.
